Have also been to L'Hoste; it's fabulous! A 2min. walk off the beach and close to the beach restaurants. Included in our stay are beach chairs and umbrellas. The rooms are spacious and nicely decorated; there is a microwave, small frig and you get either a balcony or patio with table. From what I saw everything was clean and well-maintained. There are videos for rent and paperbacks (both Fr. & Eng) you can trade. Just a few minutes away is a small plaza with a grocery; not large but you can pick up your baguette and pastries and fresh fruit, etc each morning. You should like it. As to gay nightlife; good question...I'm not gay but SXM certainly seems to attract a gay clientele; there was a large group staying at Club Orient several times when we were there so there are probably clubs that cater to their interests.
Message to rich, pat from phila:Just curious as to how you booked L'Hoste???We live in Canada near Toronto and L'Hoste is carried through Signature Vacations. Would have liked to stay there Xmas as well as in March but L'Hoste has a blackout with the tour company for a few weeks in Dec so the only way to book for then is separately with the hotel and that makes it much more expensive. Just curious as to whether or not there's another tour company that has packages with L'Hoste.

Message to Alan:Just another thought...have you checked the hotel website? www.hostehotel.com It really does look like the pictures; in fact I think the rooms look even nicer than they do online. Perhaps you could email L'Hoste and ask your nightlife question...or email the tourist board of SXM.
