Curtain Bluff Information Needed
I was almost settled on Curtain Bluff for my honeymoon and then two things noted in reviews startled me. First, the resort has no a/c. I will be going the last week of June, and wanted some feedback on anyone who has stayed there that time of year, and the lack of a/c. Second it appears that the average age of the visitor is quite a bit older than us(20's). Is this an issue, or is there enough to do to amuse us otherwise? Any information is appreciated.

I was hesitant to reply to your question because my husband and I have not personally stayed at CB. WWe were in Antigua this past Feb. and visited there. The property looked lovely but not in a pretentious way- grounds were manicured- beach very clean etc. We did not see the interior of any of the rooms - so I can not say whether or not they have AC. You can easily check this with your travel agent.Do not rely solely what you have read in reviews. We were told in reviews that our hotel had no phones in their rooms. Travel agent called the hotel and said the rooms we were in did have phones. When we were at CB ON OUR visit we noticed that the visitors were more in our age group than yous. We have children in your age group. Perhaps in the summer they appeal to younger people as it is less expensive- I do not know. As to your question of would there be enough activities to amuse you it depends on what you like. I am sure they have tennis- health spas. Renting a car is easy and while the town does not have great shopping it is always an experience as is going out on a boat excusion. We went on Elis tour. Loved it because he limits it to 25 passengers. You may prefer Wadali tours. The capacity is larger. The island also offers some beautiful beaches to visit and lovely spots to eat at. We were at an AI so have no advice on restaurants. There are casinos on the island. I do n ot know how much goes on in off season - this you need to investigate. Hope info helps alittle and have a great time wherever you decide to go.

Gerry and I were in Antigua in 2001 and 2003. We stayed at Galley Bay both times. On our second visit we checked out Curtain Bluff and were not impressed. The owner was incredibly arrogant, so much so, that we wrote a letter to the management company. We saw the rooms and they were OK by Caribbean standards. The restaurant is not on the water which we thought was a great disadvantage. The beach was OK. .. if you are going to spend the $$ why not check out Peter Island, The Meridian Club, Parrot Cay, Guana Island, etc?

CB tends to attract an older clientele with longtime repeats (and their families) the owners favor/tend to cater to. The attitude can be WASP clubby and a little stiff -- think the Cheeca resort in Florida and Bush 41. For the price and since it's your honeymoon, you might check alternatives more laid-back, with a/c in June, and better beaches/age mix/romantic quality.LADERA in St. Lucia, MAROMA in the Yucatan south of Cancun, THE CAVES in Negril/Jamaica might be more your style.
