Sarah,
Best places to eat: (DEFINITELY don't need to bring food.)
Expensive - La Cocay, Arrecife, La Veranda
Mid-priced - Sonora Grill, Prima
Less expensive - El Moro, El Turix
Lunch - Diamond Cafe, Pancho's Backyard, Plaza Leza
Breakfast - Jeanie's Waffle House, Cafe de Museo (Museum Cafe)
Places to drink: Fat Tuesday, Carlos and Charlies, Mezcalito's (on the other coast)
Best exploring spots:
Snorkeling and swimming all day at Chankanaab Park
Doing the jungle/beach ATV tour
Renting a jeep and driving all over the island
Taking a day trip via ferry over to Playa del Carmen
Have fun

any place, lots of them, downtown. don'
t eat at the name brand places. Walk around and use your nose. My wife and I rented a car for the week and spent a lot of time at the Beach Clubs up the Coast. Stay away from downtown when the cruise nerds are in.
