Countdown to Eleuthera! ((#))
Just a few days before we arrive on beautiful Eleuthera! We visited the north end a few years ago but this trip we are staying on the island in North Palmetto Point and really looking forward to those beautiful beaches, turquoise waters and visiting Tippy's Beach Bar. The list of beaches to visit is quite long and hopefully, we can pry ourselves off of our own beautiful beach to see the others! If you've been and have any last-minute suggestions or just want to share what island you are visiting this summer feel free to share!

tdelano, We'll miss you by one day as we're heading home on the 21st. Did you find a fishing charter? Hope you enjoy your trip, too! It will be nice to get away from this horrible heat and humidity.
sassycat, thank you! Will definitely share photos when I return.
3 days. 3 days. 3 days.

North Palmetto Point, where are you staying, I know that area really well, and have rented a few times there.
A really great place for dinner, fun is Mate & Jenny's for conch pizza. Maitlin (owner) does the most amazing conch pizza.
Also in Govenours Harbour there are several really good bakeries, so get some duff to take back to your house to enjoy on the beach. Also get some of the bread like the coconut bread......heavenly.
If you get up to Harbour Island find Reggie and ask for a tour of the island and tell everyone there HELLOOOOO from me!!

Love Harbour Island, travelbuff. I hope we make it up that way this trip. If not, that means we are enjoying the bliss of deserted beaches on Eleuthera.
I read someone near Palmetto has shut down her bread kitchen for the summer as it's too hot now. I don't have my notes nearto say who it is but that doesn't sound good for me, the bread lover.

Beachgirl, No, I still have not found a fishing charter that works for us. I found one on Harbor Island but hate to have to drive that far. We will be going to Harbor Island another day just for fun, but two trips over seem a bit much. I did have one other person with a webite contact me back but they were way out of our price range. I see other advertisments in our price range just can't get anyone to answer! I keep hearing just to wait till I get there. That is hard for me, I am a big planner! I am trying hard to relax and get that island attitude going!

Love it! Not one person today knew where Eleuthera was located. "Where is that?" "Oh, you're going to Atlantis?", and "she always goes somewhere I've never heard of before".
I hope it stays "Elusive Eleuthera".

Beachgirl- hope you have a great time. Post pictures when you get back- I especially wish I could be there dancing in the street at that great Friday night fish fry- the conch salad and conch fritters were wonderful there- and the people were so very nice. Have fun!

Ending our Saturday on Harbour Island. Zipping around on a golf cart with lunch at SipSip and enjoying our ride through the colorful, floor-filled lanes. This latest stop at Runaway Hill for old time's sake.
Nothing else compares to the beaches of Eleuthera. Anything closer and I would be in heaven.

Gail, who was the chef from years ago --Diane? She still there if that is her name but not the head chef -- new one is French Canadian. Flying the Canadian flag - I'm sure Messier's suggestion. Can't change that gorgeous beach and is still spectacular!!
Saw Reggie at the airport waiting for arrivals. Glad to see familiar faces.
You should be here even if it is steamy hot.

Miss Rica was the head chef and part owner and stayed for a while after the sale and retired not long ago. I sure miss her cooking, best on island.
Reg was at the airport? Or did you mean the dock?
I haven't been back to HI in several years and oh do I MISS IT!!!!!!!!!! NOTHING like Robert Arthur's coconut bread, and Miss Rica's ------well anything----um especially her french toast. There is NOTHING I have ever seen better than sitting on the deck at Runaway and having breakfast. I loved there was not menu, it was whatever you felt like that morning,,,and fresh fruit, papaya or pineapple or mango, grown right there, heavenly.......
If you see Reg again, please give him a hug for me.
