Car rental

We will be on a cruise in Jan. with a 10 hour stop in Barbados;I am thinking of renting a car to explore. Is this a good idea? and looking for not to miss areas. Beaches and snolking will be done elseware The ship offers a 4x4 green monkey encounter????.The gardens and plantations sound interesting.

I've taken a 4 x 4 safari tour in Barbados and it was awesome.
You can go places a car could never go. our encounter with one green monkey was fun but he was not wild..He was someone's pet.
But what a great way to see Barbaodos. I highly recommend it.

Renting a car on Barbados can be expensive, so you might want to weigh the cost if there are just two of you. but if you are a group, then it's almost always cheaper to do it yourself. (You do have to drive on the left, but that's not a great burden.) I'd encourage you to drive to the east coast of the island. I find the scenery to be breathtaking ... reminds me of the Central California coast. And a stop at Harrison's Cave can be fun if you like caves. Or do the rain forest instead. There is a lot of beautiful countryside to see, and it's nice to be on your own.

Harrison's Cave is currently closed for renovations and repairs.

They will re-open in April 2007 for Cricket World Cup.

After April, Harrison's Cave will be closed again until Winter 2007.
