Thank you Scubagirl. Was the original location on the marina village side or the lagoon side in front of the casino? I'm trying to visualize it's location from the movie Thunderball and it's driving me nuts! One more question if I may - were the Beach and Coral Towers long standing before the Royal Towers? I should have asked while I was there but the employees were too busy trying to sell me timeshares!

The original location was just about where Murrays Deli now stands (just a few meters east).
They moved the natural lagoon and moved the marina entrance to the other side of Club Land'or. (remember, the lagoon entrance from the harbour was on the east side of Club Land'or, and Cafe Martinique was straight ahead as you entered the lagoon from the harbour.
The location of the New Cafe Martinique is near to where it used to stand, across from the Coral Towers lobby entrance at the marina village.
It will no longer be on the water with that wonderful view of the lagoon.
The Beach Tower and Coral Tower used to be the Lowes and Brittania Towers. They were built in the 60's. They have been refurbished, but not rebuilt.
The Royal Towers is the ONLY new hotel rooms on the property.

Here's a link to a pic of the original Lagoon. The buildings straight ahead are Club Land'or. The tiny boat on the left side is the current marina which stretches into the foreground. The building in the foreground, hidden behind the palms is Cafe Martinique.

The pic below is that of the original channel that let to the lagoon (which is now the marina. The building in the background is the Britannia Towers.. Currently the Coral Towers.

Scubagirl - Wow! Many thanks! You answered questions that the Bahama Tourism Bureau could not! Now everything fits into place and I will not have to be committed! It appears that you have lived there for some time as you are very knowledgeable.
By the way, I had my two teens take the quickie SCUBA class in the Atlantis pool and then the ocean dive at Stuart's Cove. I was a little nervous that they would be in 30 feet after such minimal training (I'm PADI advanced certified and as you know kids are not certified after two hours in the pool). Everything went well as my kids loved it! Next time down I owe you a tank refill!

cubagirl,
Hi, I was looking for some information on the ol' Cafe Martinique and found your information correct and useful!
I live in California but travel to the Bahamas to work on films or tv shows that shoot at Atlantis or the Ocean Club. Do you work at Staurt's Cove? I feel like we might know each other?
Cheers, Anne
