Bike Rental on St. Thomas
I am wondering if anyone can recommend whether or not renting bikes for a week is a good way to get around on St. Thomas, and if so, where one might find a rental shop. We are staying a the Ritz and from what we have read, it seems like biking to the beaches, into Red Hook, and around the island would be the best way to get around. We are both atheletic and like the idea of putting a little sweat equity into seeing some of the beautiful parts of the island so we can burn off all the great food.
Any info would be greatly, greatly appreciated. Thank you in advance!

Being fit and strong are only part of the battle when it comes to biking on St. Thomas.
The roads are extremely steep and narrow. There is no shoulder or guard rails. Rocks on one side, cliffs on the others. Full sized autos and trucks vie for limited space and a biker could easily be wiped out without anyone noticing.
Also, I did not see more than a handful of locals on bikes. Not a very good choice of transportation.
Good luck.

Just thinking of BlueBeard's Road out to the Ritz on a bike makes me shudder with the twists and turns, narrow lanes and the zoom! zoom! of the taxis/cars! You many like the "sweat equity" but not coming home in pieces! Rethink your choice and stick to a motorized vehicle!
