Massachusetts Mom, your post is very vague! There are four U.S. Virgin Islands, three of which cater to tourism.
For a start, go to www.usvi-on-line.com where you'll find a bunch of info on all the islands and the resorts.
Then you can start to sift through, get a short list and then ask specific questions on this forum (or search on the forum) to get answers to specific questions.
You're on the right tack but need to be more precise! Good luck.

Hi Mass Mom. I wouldn't normally reply to a post where I had no personal experience but since you don't have many responses I figured I would tell you what I know.

While in St. John last year we toured the Westin to compare it with where we were staying. There seemed to be a very large number of children at the resort. The pool area is very nice and while the beach isn't the best on the island there were lots of people enjoying it. There was a large trampoline just off the shore that kids were making use of and since it's a Westin I suspect there are organized children's activities. The Westin also has it's own private ferry that will transport you to and from St. Thomas. We didn't see any rooms so I can't comment on those. With the large number of children I can only assume that the Westin caters to the family trade.

Also, last year some friends with children stayed at the Wyndham Sugar Bay Beach Club on St. Thomas. They really liked it and plan to return. I believe they have a Kids' Club. Sorry I can't tell you more.

Buccaneer on St. Croix, Sapphire Beach on St. Thomas would be one that has a reputation for kids staying and eating free, St. John has only two resorts, the Westin and Caneel. More activity at the Westin although Caneel has an active program for kids including sailboard and snorkeling lessons. Villas and condos are choices also but that's self-catering and mom deserves a vacation too.

Prettiest island: St. John.
Best family resort: Buccaneer (St. Croix).
Island with the most activities: St. Thomas.
Sapphire Beach (St. Thomas) is popular as a family resort but looked rundown when we were there a year ago, and has a small pool.
Westin has a nice pool and lots of families, but the ocean water there is murky. (The water's clear almost everwhere else on St. John).
Caneel is gorgeous; used to be rather sedate but now caters more to families. I didn't see the pool but I've heard it's rather small.
If money is an issue, Bolongo Bay on St. Thomas is popular with families and is less expensive than the others mentioned.
