Bermuda Airport - Taxis?

Are taxis readily availible at the Bermuda Airport?

We will be arriving mid-day on a Tuesday. We are heading to Cambidge Beaches.

CB has offered to 'arrange' a taxi for us - but I don't see why I would want to do that.

There are taxis at the airport but sometimes there's not enough to handle all the people. Most hotels arrange for the taxis so their guests won't be delayed. The cost is going to be the same whether you use the hotel"s taxi or your own.

I have been to Bermuda many times and never once have I had to wait for a taxi. However, when you are departing, make sure you order the taxi in advance. Don't expect taxis to be there in an instant, they are on Island time plus the traffic makes for slow driving - especially at peak times.

My wife and I will be taking a taxi from the airport to Pompano Beach hotel. What is the approximate cost for two? About how long is the ride? What is the appropriate tip for the driver?

The taxi drivers here keep an eye on the incoming flights and how many people are landing and they are ready and waiting for you. I don't ever bother with pre-arranging.
Pompano is quite a ways out - I'm estimating your taxi will be atleast $40, maybe a little more. Tip is the standard 15%, and you're looking at a good 45 minute ride, if no traffic. But it's a beautiful ride!!

When I went to Cambridge Beaches two years ago, the hotel supposedly arranged the taxi for us....but it didn't happen! A taxi driver was more than willing to bring me over but I did have to wait 20-25 minutes before the rest of his fares arrived. If I went to Bermuda again, I wouldn't bother arranging for the trip to the resort, but definitely would for the return trip. Hope you enjoy CB --- and have some Baked Alaska for me!

Just as a followup:

Arrived at Bermuda Airport, through customs, immediately found taxis waiting. Our driver was informative and delightful as we spent about 40 minutes getting to the Pompano. The fare was about $43 plus tip.

For the return, Pompano arranged for taxi pickup which was ready and waiting at the appointed time. Roughly the same fare.

Overall, taxi service was easy and well run (much like the rest of our experience in Bermuda).

So how did you like Pompano? Did you visit any other restaurants besides Pompano's while in Bermuda? Tell us about your visit...it is the next best thing to being there!
Welcome home.

Loved Bermuda. Highly recommend Pompano. Very comfortable and friendly . We ate all breakfasts and dinners there and some lunches as well. I've posted a review for Trip Advisors which should be up in a day or so.
