Barbados - one activity and restaurant

Hello all,

I'll be in Barbados in September, but only for two days. What one restaurant and one activity would you say are "can't miss" for Barbados? Also, I'm looking for a nice place to stay on the beach that would be good for an active couple on a reasonable budget.

Try staying on the south coast at the Seafoam Haciendas (seafoamhaciendas.com). We have stayed with them for a number of years and they are wonderful, wonderful people.
As far as dinner, take a short walk to the Gap for any number of good restaurants (Bellini's pops into mind.).
A motor coach tour would be a good way to get your feet wet as it were. We took one a number of years ago and enjoyed it very much.

I think you would enjoy doing an island safari. Island Safaris is the best company to go with. Here is a link: http://www.islandsafari.bb/
Also nice would be a catamaran cruise that includes lunch - check out Tiami

If you stay on the south coast, I would definitely book The Restaurant at Soutsea -- it's gourmet and wonderful.

On the West Coast, I would consider The Tides or The Cliff--(extremely pricey)

For about $160/night you can stay at Coral Sands Beach Resort -- a very nice hotel that is about 5 years old on a great beach.

Check out the Tourism Board's website at www.barbados.org All hotels are listed there with links to their sites as well as info on things to do.

If you want to write me, I have extensive "Insider Tips" - my e-mail is: [email protected]

I`ve been to Barbados twice and have found the two best retaurants. Oceans and Josefs. Both places are in St.Lawrence Gap. Thats where all the night life is on that part of the island. You also should book one of the snorkeling trips to swim with the sea turtles. We went on the El Tigre but I`m certain there all wonderful.Enjoy your vacation.I know we did.

A day sail on Tiami - sails up the west coast, buffet lunch, swim with the turtles - makes for a wonderful excursion. I will also throw another idea out and that is the Bajan Roots and Rhythm show at the Plantation. A fun night with local talent. Another buffet which is not fine dining, but that's not really what you go for anyway. Gives you some background on the Bajan culture.

I would have trouble picking just one restaurant, not know ing what you like. However, if the only thing scaring oyu away from the Cliff is the price, DON'T LET IT!!! It was well worht the expense... Granted, it was a slow night, but we had three waiters attending our beck and call, the food was excellent, and the atmosphere is unparalleled... I would check out their website before I chose..

That said, there are a number of mid-range restaurants that could be just as appealing depending on your taste...

Anyway, on the activity front, I just wanted to second Lois' suggestion of the Island Safari--not only is it very fun, it is also a great way to seee the landscape of the whole island.

Have fun!
