ARUBA ALL-INCLUSIVE

My fiance and I are thinking about going to Aruba for our honeymoon in Sept. 2003. We want to stay at an all inclusive. Any reccomendations? Also, what do you think about the Allegro vs. the Divi? THANKS!!!

It's a personal decision, but I wouldn't suggest all-inclusive in Aruba. You would miss out on so much of the local flavor and the reviews on the few all-inclusive resorts on the island have been very mixed.

I just topped another question on this topic for you.

By the way, the subject line of the other thread on this topic is "Is an All-Inclusive worth it?".
Robyn -
MEE TOO! My fiance and I would like to honeymoon in Aruba in Oct 2003 - and I'm having the same problem! The Allegro is more expensive, and have more action (pool games, etc) from what people have told me, but the Divi is cheaper and might be better to have that all inclusive feel but cheap enough to still go out at night. I don't know what to do!

We were in Aruba in September and we didn't have time check out the Allegro, but we did take a look at the Divi and the Tamarijn (sp?) and we were not impressed with either one. It appeared as thought they were older and not as well maintained as most other resorts on the island. (Just our opinion from the outside of the facilities).

Have you checked into the Bucuti? We stayed there and couldn't have been happier. It is not all-inclusive, but their prices are great, the service can't be beat and they are located on the best stretch of beach on the island. However, it's very quiet at the Bucuti. They don't offer any children's programs or other planned activities. So, if you are looking for pool games, etc. you may be disappointed.

If you do have your heart set on going all-inclusive in Aruba, I would imagine that the extra money for the Allegro may be worth it based on what we saw of the Divi.

You may want to also take a look at the posts on www.aruba-bb.com. That forum is dedicated to Aruba travel and is very active. Chances are you can find some first-hand accounts for all of these resorts there.

Congrats and have a great honeymoon, whatever you decide!

Stay away from the Divi and the Tamarin!!! Can hear everything between rooms. Rude front desk people. food was extremely monotonous and it was like being in a motel 8 on a caribbean island. Would definitely stay at the Wyndham, playa linda or something at that end no need to go all inclusive in Aruba - we did and ate out almost every night. Would never go back!!!!

Thanks all! I hear you both about the all-inclusives - and trust me, I am looking forward to the restaurant scene down there, the reason I do want an all binclusive is simply for the time that we will spend at the hotel - I can't tell you how many vacations I have been on that I run out of $ by the end of the week - a soda alone runs $5! That's my reasoning for the all inclusive - I'll check out the Allegro more closely. TY!

I was in Aruba in October and stayed at the Radisson. We walked down to the Hyatt past the Allegro. The thing I noticed was all the chairs on the beach were tied together. I dont know about you but I dont like to be sitting on top of people I dont know and I like to move my chair around as the sun moves. Good luck with the honeymoon.

We did the all inclusive at the Holiday Inn and though the pool and grounds are no hell, we still enjoyed it. The rooms are very clean and nicely done with in-room safe, comfortable beds and well appointed bathrooms. The buffet was being renovated at the time and so when we tired of the one restaurant, we went out for a few meals and considered it as part of our extra spending money that we always take with us on an all-inclusive.
But you're right Beth, all inclusive is just nice because you're able to have a drink or a pop or a snack without having to dig into your wallet all the time. The HI is on the best part of the beach and you can still walk along the boardwalk in the evenings and walk into the other hotels on Palm Beach strip and enjoy their ambiance and casinos.
We know a couple who used to stay every year they went to Aruba at the Allegro and they quite liked it. Nice beach (maybe the chairs were tied together until they were being used??) with lots of loungers, nice big pool, shops and restaurants on the ground floor...and it's on Palm Beach..much nicer that the Divi which is further down on Eagle Beach and which didn't seem as nice as Palm Beach with all it's activities and watersports..
