Anguilla/St. Barts

My husband and I are going to Anguilla in mid-May. I was wondering what was the best way to take a day trip to St. Barts. I know that Windward has flights and that I can go by a private boat, but it seems costly. Is there a public ferry that goes from Anguilla to St. Barts. Any advice on getting there would be helpful. Thanks in advance.

Afraid there is not a public ferry. The crossing is reportedly rough via water.

I think the most economical way to go to St. Bart's from Anguilla would be to take the ferry to St. Maarten and then take a ferry. But I've heard the crossing can be rough and upsetting to the stomach. Just heard that WinAir is terminating its AXA-SXM route. So you may want to contact Carmen in Anguilla who is organizing day trips to St. Bart's on Tuesdays and Thursdays for $160 (I think, can't remember for sure). Haven't done it, but saw it posted on another forum. Try [email protected].
