All these hurricanes

Planning to cruise around Western Caribbean in December. Ports of call include Cozumel, Mexico, Cayman Island, Honduras, Belize City, and Jamaica.

Do you think these areas have been badly affected by the hurricanes? Will they have cleaned up and fixed up enough for the tourists to enjoy (feel bad about being concerned about my vacation when people are suffering, but)?

Reports from Cozumel are of widespread devastation. Your cruise company will most likely substitue Cozumel. Honduras and Belize were spared and Cayman is slowly recovering from Ivan last year. Enjoy your cruise....there are several hurricane relief funds to donate money to, if that will make you feel better. We donated to an Ivan relief fund to assist the hotel staff at our preferred hotel in Negril last year.

Friends of mine were going on what sounds like the same cruise in February. They rescheduled this past weekend.

friends took a christmas cruise last year. the caymans were still "out of order" so they simply put into an alternate port. you indicate 2 stops in mexico and i'm guessing you will not go to either. contact the cruise line and let them know you are concerned and see what options they come up with. but be patient as they are no doubt taking 100's of calls and may not yet know what alternate ports they will visit. i don't believe my friends knew until mid cruise...

Also planning a re-booked trip to Mayan Riviera - but in November! Where can I get an accurate picture of resort status & hurricane effects? Thanks

stormcarib.com has detailed reports and photos from several who rode out the 'cane in Cancun. There are several links from that site that can get you to places with more detailed info, I believe.
