21st Birthday

Thinking of taking our oldest to Puerto Rico to celebrate her 21st. Airfare from Newark is pretty reasonable. Would like to go May 30th for 3 nights. Looking at 4 star places with nice beach and safe areas. Any help? Thanks

Isla Verde is a safe area and the beach is okay. Consider the Wyndham El San Juan, the Ritz Carlton or the Intercontinental. Condado has an adequate beach - consider the Marriott. You might also check fares on Jet Blue - they fly out of JFK.

Unless you have a rental, car all activities would be confined to the hotel grounds - there is nothing much around within walking distance.

Yes, but if you have a car, you are very close to the rainforest and you could take a side trip to Vieques or do the bio bay near Fajardo.

Also might want to consider the Hyatt in Dorado.

Both Hyatt and Westin have nicer beaches than anywhere in San Juan.

If you are travelling with a soon to be 21 year old I think he/she will enjoy staying in the San Juan area rather than a resort. You can always drive to the rainforest if this something you want to do.
