Whistler-humidity? How's the Westin?
Since Whistler is near the coast, does the humidity make it feel colder than it really is (like East Coast ski resorts)? We usually ski in the Rockies and like how there is not much humidity there like on the East Coast. Whistler looks amazing though. Any advice on the Westin. Is it really ski-in ski-out? Thanks!

I also have just been reading posts about no snow. For 2004 Christmas, we went to Vail and there was very little snow (many of the trails were icy, which was pretty disappointing!). Would it be risky to book Whistler over Christmas? Is there a more reliable place (in terms of snow)?

Lived in Whistler for over 2 years. It's not cold, certainly not like east coast resorts. The Westin is nearly attached to one of the gondolas, and is very very close to ski in/ski out. And for snow, it depends on the season. 2 seasons ago was horrible for snow. This season was glorious. Christmas is a hit-or-miss time, and will likely not be sunny, but if it's "hit" the snow is glorious.

You will find Whistler much warmer than just about any other major ski resort in North America, generally speaking. The wetness is evident in the snow though, which is really heavy compared to rockies powder.
The Westin is an excellent place that is fairly new. Often it will not be ski-in/ski-out because the snow doesn't always make it all the way to the bottom of the Whistler mountain. If you are skiiing on Blackcomb, it is definitely not ski-in. However, it is a very short walk to the lifts in any event and a great location - close enough to the village life to enjoy as much of it as you want but quiet in the evenings.
