Which to take for dinner in Quebec City - L'Echaude or Cochon Dingue?!

Hi there,
Would like some recommendations on a restaurant in Quebec.
I have read the feedbacks that Judi posted, which were awesome and am considering to take L'Echaude or Cochon Dingue. But the problem is, our budget is limited so far – up to $70 and I couldn’t find any info of the price of each restaurant.
We are young couple (girl in mid 20s and man in early 30s) and do not have any particular dislikes. The volume is not required that much because we also would like to try some meat pies and crapes before dinner as well.
Could anyone suggest which to take, or have any advises on this?!
Thank you soooo much in advance!

Here's the menu page on L'Echaude's website. The prices are on there. We considered it but it was more than we wanted to spend.

We didn't go to Cochon Dingue either but I believe it's less expensive. http://www.cochondingue.com/ Their menu page also includes prices.

Our favourite meal by far in Quebec was at Cafe du Cloche Pencher in the St. Roch area (on a very nice shopping street). We had lunch there and loved it but it wasn't open for dinner on Sunday when we wanted to go back. I don't see a website for them but here's the review on Chowhound.

I ate at Cochon Dingue tonite. Our bill was about $60 for 2. It was a fun and lively atmosphere. The food was very good. It was less expensive than most other restaurants in QC. They also run a deli for lunch that is quite excellent for sandwiches, etc.

Thank you, Sakura. L'Echaude and Cochon Dingue are very different restaurants. If you are on a budget I think Cochon Dingue would be your best choice. It is more casual and has good food.

As I said, L'Echaude was our favorite restaurant but it usually ran about $140 for two with a starter, main and wine.

Thanks guys so much for your advices!

Thank you for the URLs, goddest.
I have visited these websites and you are right, L'Echaude looked very good restaurant as Judi said, but yes, we can't afford it if it costs as twice as our original budget.

For Cochon Dingue I spotted that rib on their website but also have read feedbacks on that Cafe du Cloche Penche which goddest recommended and it's more like the place we might go for our dinner, I consider. Maybe we will be going to Cochon Dingue for sandwiches taking Bob's opinion for lunch next day and share the rib!!

Again, thank you sooooo much!

--- I'm pretty threatened by ordering in French anyway.

Good choice----the sandwiches and wraps at Cochon are fabulous for lunch. Be aware there are 2 Cochons on the same block. One is the restaurant and the other is the deli and sandwich place (called Petite Cochon Dingue). Both the same owner. Don't worry about ordering in French--most menus in Quebec City have English translations and for those that don't, the waiter will explain the items in English.
Bon Apetit
