We have stayed at the Le Soleil and Fairmont Waterfront, both of which were great. Be sure to stay in the downtown area. I can highly recommend Joe Fortes restaurant (downtown). I've had several wonderful meals there--it has a nice, bistro atmosphere, along with an outdoor garden up top.

We stayed in the Meridian at 910 Beach. Very comfortable apartments with complementary breakfast. Got good rates on Expedia and it is exceptionally handy for the little waterbus across to Granville Island.
Will stay there again when we return.

I'm hesitant to recommend it, because I don't want them to become TOO popular , but we stayed at Blue Horizon pre-cruise and were very pleased. Don't judge the place by the hallways - the rooms are a real bargain.

If you bid on Priceline for a 4* in Vancouver downtown, you would not be disappointed. Two of our favorites (that we've won on Priceline are Hyatt and the Sheraton Wall. But do check www.biddingfortravel.com for assistance in how much to bid.
Here's a second to Holdoll's restaurant recommendation of Joe Fortes. DH would be crushed if we were anywhere near Vancouver and didn't go there. If they have the rooftop renovation finished and the weather is fine, by all means enjoy brunch or lunch in the rooftop garden!
