Wow! We are so excited. Getting ready to leave tomorrow to YVR and then to our rockies trip for 2 weeks. I have gathered much information on places to go, things to eat, etc. Unfortunately, the forecast for the next 2 weeks is mostly rainning, raining and rainning, with 1 or 2 days of sunny days. I'd love to have some more suggestions, ideas as to what to do if it continues to rain during our trip.

We are driving the loop YVR -> Kamloop -> Jasper -> Lake Louise -> Banff -> Kamloop-> YVR. Do not plan to do much hiking, but much walking with rain gears if weather does not get worst. We booked Patricia Lake Lodge, Fairmount Chateau Lake Louise, Rimrock with 1-2 days befofe and after reaching the rockies.

Your guggestions will be much appreciated. Thanks.

A visit to a Hot Springs location would be my suggestion. The Miette Hot Springs (near Jasper) remain open in the rain (as long as there is no thunder and lightening - then they close until the storm is over). The Miette Valley is beautiful.

It's not that often that it rains all day in the Rockies - it's more likely to be scattered showers. Here in Jasper, the weather during each of the past several days (weeks?) has been periods of sunshine followed by periods of gloomy grey clouds, with just a few sprinkles now and again, and the forecast seems to indicate that this will continue. However, the forecasts in the Rockies are often inaccurate.

Just a FYI - the Miette Hot Springs are not in the Miette valley, they are in the Fiddle valley. The Miette valley is west of the town of Jasper (highway 16 runs through it to BC); the Miette River flows from Yellowhead Pass at the BC/Alberta border to its confluence with the Athabasca River near the town of Jasper. Miette Hot Springs is named for the nearby Miette Range, which includes Roche Miette, a striking peak near highway 16.

Thank you semiramis and krp329. We are now in Kamloops and the drive here from Vancouver was easy. krp329, you are right on, the weather in the rockies are just as you said. It's interesting with some clouds and sun and periods of rains here and there. I am sure we will still have a wonderful time. Just the fresh mountain air and the surroundings make us feel refreshed.

I will check in here from time to time if anyone has anymore suggestions. I plan to stay with our trip plan regardless of the weather rain or not .

Wow! It's really awesome to gear up in the rockies that even in cloudy season. Black cloud with rain seems pretty adventurours, but I suggest you that you should be very careful to this adventure. See to it that the whether should not get too worst that can not be bared. Well have a nice journey.

Well, if my calculations are correct, you have been here in Jasper over the past few days, which have indeed been quite rainy (and even fresh snow at the top of the Jasper Tramway the other morning when the clouds lifted), although there have also been spells of several hours without rain. Hope it's not getting you down too much!

We are back from our 2 weeks trip, one of our best vacations ever! We did have one or 2 rainning days in Jasper(6/15, 6/16) but it wasn't bad at all, in fact the weather turned out to be much better than expected. We visited all the places as planned. Lake Louise was just out-of-sight, I left my heart in LL. We enjoyed the lakes(Maligne Lake,Peyto Lake, Morain Lake, Emerald Lake...),caynons Icefield, Glaciers. Although we did not prepare for hiking but we did managed hiked up to the Agnes Teahouse in Lake Louise, Lake O'Hara, and a few others. We actually are thinking of visiting again next year
