What is there to do that's fun in Windsor?????
I will be going to Windsor, Ontario in about a month and was wondering what is there to do their in the evening?

I have heard that it is a city that you can walk around at night but it might be too cold for that. I understand they have a casino and that might be fun. I also heard that they have many good ethnic restaurants.

Is there anything else fun to do? A couple people told me about the Windsor Ballet and that I should NOT miss seeing it. I guess many of the dancers come from France or Quebec? Is it worth going? Do you have to plan in advance or can you just decide to go to the Windsor Ballet that night?

Thanks.

I don't know about what the above poster means but I have been to the Windsor Ballet twice-last year and about 4 or 5 years ago and it was excellent both times. Obviously each performance was different but I enjoyed both. You are in a smaller theatre than if you were in a large city--the benefit is that you are closer to the stage--but it is probably not as nice as somewhere in New York or San Francisco. I did not pre buy tickets and had no problem (but both times it was on a week day so you may want to call in advance). There was an afterglow the last time I went when you did get to meet the performers. It was pretty neat. Some had accents but I think they were from Quebec not France! I would reccommend this.

Windsor does have alot of bars that seem to cater to under age Americans. They also have a horse track and bingo parlors (I am not kidding--these places are packed) if that sort of stuff interests you. Sometimes the casino has big name performers.

It is not Vegas but you should have a good time!

I have been to Windsor and have gone to the ballet there.

Alot of people who are there on business or a conference may go to Detroit (just across the border) for the night but it can be hassle with customs sometimes.

I went with three other guys to the Windsor Ballet. Don't laugh--my wife was skeptical also. We didn't want to do the casino and a night of television seemed pretty boring and alot of people in the town talk about it. When we went it was in more of a cabaret style seating and it wasn't all "traditional ballet" but it was much more enjoyable than I thought it would be. You did have the option of meeting the performers afterwards.

I would say to go and if you don't like it you can always leave and go play blackjack.

Check out this site for some ideas:
http://www.city.windsor.on.ca/cvb/

The bad rap Windsor gets from non-residents (and even some locals) as a "suburb" of Detroit is unwarranted. There is more to the city than the casino and the strip bars.

As to shopping -- some very good possibilities, but stay away from either the Devonshire or the Premium Outlet mall on weekends from now to Christmas -- parking is bedlam.

Hmm, I lived in Windsor for for 25 years until relocating for work. I've always known the 'Windsor Ballet' as softer term for the numerous strip clubs in the city. I guarantee you can meet the performers there too...
There are excellent restaurants, large clubs, small pubs, and the best pizza that I have ever tasted.
