Weekends away from Ottawa

Anyone have any ideas for weekends away from Ottawa not including Toronto or Montreal but rather something like a resort or family camp or some such? Thanks!

Judy,
Is this for a family outing or just for a couple? As a couple, we have done many weekend getaways, well we used to do a lot more , Hotel du Lac Carling, Tremblant, Ste-Adele, Lake Placid, etc. Most are within a few hours drive at the most.

There are some great "couples" week-ends that can be done out of Ottawa:

Les Trois Erables B&B in Wakefield.

Miramont-sur-le-lac in St-Adolphe-d'Howard.

Auberge Evasion in Lac-Simon.

Château Les Beaulne (lakeside spa) in Montpellier.
Those are great suggestions - much appreciated - but I was thinking more of a family weekend with my husband and two sons ages 12 and 14. Thanks for any other suggestions you might have.

How about a day sailing? We've used these people out of Bloomfield who also run a B&B http://www.pec.on.ca/sail/ Your children may not be interested in staying in the B&B but they might enjoy the sailing. The people who run the charter are wonderful and we've had a great time both times we've sailed with them.

check out Chateau Montebello in Montebello Quebec for great summer and winter weekends - this is about an hour and half or so from Ottawa. Formerly the private Seigneury Club, it is now a resort hotel and boasts of being the largest log cabin in the world. Great facility with things to do for all ages - spa, pool, tennis, curling, water sports, cross country trails for hiking, skiiing biking, caleche rides, disco. Food is superb and they often have weekend special rates.

I should also have mentioned Red Pine Camp about 2 hours (?) from Ottawa. This is a family camp that is owned and operated by the people who camp there - many have been going for years. Here are the address and phone numbers.

Red Pine Camp
Golden Lake, ON K0J 1X0

613-625-2355-July-August,

613-828-0700-September-June

Another great place is Deerhurst, right in the middle of Southern Ontario Cottage Country. It's a great resort, and they have a website if you want to get a bit more info.
www.deerhurst.on.ca
