Parents house in Lake of the Pines near Auburn CA. At the last minute all of my sibs and all but one of the grandkids will be there! Wow what a mess!

Fortunately BIL makes awesome margaritas!! Fireworks over the lake and then back to my own bed!!!

boring weekend here! staying home and doing much needed home improvements. Definately planning on doing some "relaxing" w/ drinks in the evening! I'm just glad to have a long weekend! I work in the "beverage" indusrty and holidays are our busiest times. Luckily, the calender helped us out this year!!

Leaving L.A. tomorrow morning for Santa Cruz to see my boyfriend...

Best thing the City of SC ever did for the 4th of July: two years ago was the last time they did a city-sponsored fireworks show. Something raucous/riotous happened and they decided they wouldn't do the show anymore. So now what people are doing is going outside of the city to buy their own (illegal) fireworks and then wrecking up the beach setting them off. The beach looks like a scorched war zone the next day, not only that, people set off fireworks in the middle of the street as people and cars file by in horror. How on earth this anarchy is better than a city-sponsored show is beyond me.

Another reason to only visit Santa Cruz.

love
roxy

Angels game tonight, complete with fireworks. Tomorrow night a concert and fireworks at an outdoor amphitheater. Saturday? Not sure - it's mom's birthday, but S/O wants me to meet his mom, so plans still up in the air. Sunday, home improvements and getting ready to face this place once again!

Hey turn-it-on,

I never understood the reasoning behind Santa Cruz cancelling the city-sponsored fireworks show either. Whenever there is an event and someone causes trouble, the reaction is to cancel all future events. Why not just arrest the trouble makers and continue with business as usual?

I grew up in Santa Cruz, amd we always did our own fireworks on the beach. It was anarchy then too, but it's Santa Cruz, what do you expect? One year some kid shot a firework over the bow of a coast guard vessel - they charged him with an act of war. It was a big controversy.

We will be in Wastonville this year with our safe and sane fireworks, setting them off in the street this year - abiding by all the laws. Last year we took our fireworks down to the beach though. It's always more fun that way.

Yep, still at the office for another hour or so. Then it's a quiet weekend at home. Just got back a week ago from a 11 day trip and have another one planned next month.

At the office for another 59 minutes or so (can you tell I'm counting?) and then off to fabulous Las Vegas for 3 fun-filled days. Hot and crowded, I love it!

Gonna watch Michelle Wie from behind the ropes tomorrow, then later join the neighbors (policeman included) for barbecue and illegal fireworks.
