Victoria Winter Long-Stay
We are looking for a suite for a month's stay in Victoria next winter. Our first choice, the Royal Scot is full!
Does anyone know the Embassy? We want to do most of our own cooking.
Any information appreciated. David

I know of the Embassy but have never stayed there. I believe there is an older part and a newer part, none of it all that new. Has a restaurant and the location is about as good as it gets without being harbourside. Thrifty's grocery store is a few blocks back from the harbour.
You could also try the Queen Victoria.

I think I would be happier with the Queen Victoria than the Embassy. My aunt and uncle used to stay there every second winter. The lobby of the Queen Victoria has recently been renovated and the exterior looks fresher. I've tried their restaurant a few times and have never been impressed but there are lots of others around. The cafe in the museum across the street, for instance, is handy for a coffee and sandwich, and Vista 18 at nearby Chateau Victoria has nice breakfasts and a great view. You'll be in a great location close to the harbour, museum, Empress Hotel, Beacon Hill Park and downtown.
