Vancouver -Sutton Place Hotel - room choice

Looking at the Sutton Place Hotel for an upcoming trip to Vancouver. Location looks great but am seeing mixed reviews on the net. I understand parts of the the hotel have been recently renovated. Any feedback on room choice would be appreciated- At the very least we are looking for a comfortable bed and a spacious room in the renovated section

The Grande Residence apartments are the rooms that were recently renovated. These are generally for longer-term stays so unless you're staying for at least 3 nights or so, they may not be available for your stay.

The renovated apartments are nice but not quite the level of luxury as the hotel rooms, IMO. I prefer to stay on the hotel side myself. I'd had issues with the mattresses being hard in the past but that was not an issue on my most recent stay so perhaps they've been upgrading the mattresses. The regular rooms are not large but they are comfortable. If you want "spacious" you'll have to go for a suite on the hotel side or one of the apartments in the Grande Residence.

Have recently stayed on the residence side - very nice separate br, spacious living room, dining area and kitchen ( fully equipped. The only downside was the bathroom was pretty standard and small but how much time do you need there. Also the spa, gym, swimming pool which is quite nice are on that side which I also found handy not needing to walk across the lobby on the way. Our room was also very quiet. It has been two years since stayed on the hotel side in a regular room which wasn't any nicer than the residence side.
