Vancouver in October?

No matter where I've traveled and lived in the world - my love affair with my Canadian hometown never ends! There are so many beautiful alternatives to East Vancouver that it seems a shame to even consider East Vancouver! It just isn't a good family environment when there are so many other beautiful places in the city. I would stay to the downtown side of the cruise terminal all the way to the PNE (Pacific National Exhibition) - just to be safe. Robson Street is even looking a bit questionable lately. You will see lots of graffiti, a few homeless people, a few people "down on their luck," trash. Please do not forget the significant problem with the Chinese mafia and Asian street gangs - Vancouver is one of the more dangerous cities in an almost completely gun-free Canada.
Do try West Vancouver, North Vancouver, Point Grey, Kitsilano (Kits), Stanley Park - even downtown is lovely and clean.
Best Regards,
Julia
