Folks

We are in Vancouver for a few days and had booked at Four Seasons - Big mistake-. Didn't do my homework this time.  The hotel is undergoing renovation and rooms are just basic, with low ceilings which I dislike.  I understand that chances of finding another place now is small but I thought I'll try.  Fairmont across the street was full last night but I'll try to check their rooms today.  Any other ideas for a really nice place preferably with a view?

My favorite hotels in Vancouver are the Sutton Place, the Wedgewood and the Fairmont Waterfront (rather than the Fairmont Hotel Vancouver). The Opus in Yaletown is also pretty nice if a little too self-consciously hip.

We thought the Wedgewood was okay but preferred the Lord Stanley for the views. Haven't been there in a few years though and it might not be nice enough for you.

We enjoyed Hotel Le Soleil -- no view (at least not from our room) but nicely decorated small suites, good location, excellent service.

The Wedgewood is our absolutely favourite hotel in the world. If they have room, grab it!
