Urgent - Restaurant Recommendations Needed for Next 3 Days in Toronto

Hello - We're flying to Toronto this evening last minute for a conference. We'd like some restaurant recommendations for when we're able to skip out on the conference and get a good meal. Looking for restaurants that have delicious food (any cuisine), not too too expensive, and that would satisfy NY foodies. Thanks!

You could join us (a bunch of Fodor's contributors) Saturday night at the Hot House Cafe at Church and FRont St. East.

I;m a big fan of Kit Kat and Club Lucky, both owned by a friend of mine.
Kit Kat is King at John, Club Lucky at John just north of ADelaide.

Both Itaian, reasonable, good.

I was in Toronto last weekend. I had a wonderful dinner at a tiny little French Bistro called Midi 168 McCaul Street Toronto.

http://www.midibistro.com/

It was $33 Canadian for the 3 course pre fixe menu.

I had a spinach cake, steak frites & tarte tatin.

My friend had soup, salmon and I forget what he had for dessert.

It was just like being in Paris. I loved it. So did my friend.

My son, not me, enjoyed his meal this week at the Boiler House in the Distillery District. http://boilerhouse.ca/

This place often has lineups when I go past on the streetcar:

The Beer Bistro. That is very near to your conference and the food is amazing! http://beerbistro.com/
The mussels are outstanding.

For a taste of Bretonne crepes, you could try Le Papillon on Front Street but probably more logical for lunch/brunch.

The block that the Kit Kat (King Street) is on is chock full of restaurants. I've always been a fan of Fred's Not Here (grill). Nota Bene, a bit more upscale, is on Queen just west of University.

Get over to Queen St W. where there are several decent bistros at good prices... one of our favorites is the Queen Mother Pub "the Queen Mum"... an eclectic mix of great food... its a two minute cab ride or a 7-8 minute brisk walk..

We also enjoy the Queen Mother. I wouldn't exactly call it a pub, but the food is always great. The menu is definitely eclectic.
