trip from Quebec City to St Andres NB

My wife and I are planning a driving vacation in Auguest from NYC through Montreal and Quebec City to St. Andrews, NB and then back to NYC. We plan on driving from Quebec City to Riviere du Loop along the Highway and then along the coast to St. Flave. I am hoping that is a very scenic drive. From there we plan on driving through Campbellton, Bathhurst, Moncton and Saint John to St. Andrew. We are plannin on doing that with two nights out. Is that doable or do we need three nights. I love driving on rough country roads so that is not an issue. Also where along the route would you recommend spending the nights? First night I suspect would be somewhere between St. Flavie and Campbellton. Second night around Shadiac or in Moncton or there abouts. Any recommendations for places to stay. We have reservations in Quebec at the Chateau Frontenac (a splurge - but we have been there before and love it) and in St. Andrews at the Tara Manor. Any recommendations for where to stay between them on the route? Any restaurant recommendations would also be most welcome. We have been to the Fundy Area many years ago and look forward to the trip. Thanks.

Last September, we stayed in a lovely place called the Aubergine Inn & Spa in Riverside-Albert. That's not too far from Moncton and close to the Fundy National Park. It's a B&B, and they also served dinners. The rooms are lovely and I'd recommend it. If you do a search for Aubergine-spa, you'll find it.

I once drove, fast, from Moncton to Quebec City (Ste Foy, in the west end of QC) leaving Moncton at 10:30 and ariving in QC around 6:30. I stopped for gas, snacks and a strawberry shortcake, but that was it, and I was usually in some sort of anti-social speed sphere.

And I've made many pleasant, reasonabe speed trips from St. Jean Port Joli (east of Quebec City) to Moncton in a day starting at 8 or so in the morning.

For an enjoyable, look at the scenery trip, I'd leave Quebec City fairly early in the morning, and make Cambellton or BaAthurst my target for the night. That would give you time to enjoy some of the towns along the south shore of the St. Lawrence.

From Cambellton, I'd take the better part of a day to get to Monction, because there's lots to see down the coast until you get to Shediac, more or less.

The next day should get you to St,. Andrews by lunch, unless you spend time in Moncton and stop at Fundy National Park on your way.

Enjoy your trip.
