Toronto Airport Hotels

Hello again!

We have decided on the hotel by the airport before we leave on our vacation...why not start early!?!? We have found that the best prices are in a variety of spots but how good or bad are they. Can anyone tell me about The Delta Toronto Airport West? It is the front runner...not the best price but looks the best...after that are the standards...Best Western, Days Inn and then the Carlingview...

Thoughts opinions anyone?

The Delta used to be the Howard Johnson's and it was a fine hotel back when I worked for this chain. To me, Delta hotels generally are one notch better than their price indicates, so i would stay there without a moment's hesitation.

If the goal is to have a good night's sleep and then get up early and catch a plane, it's fine.

And you can walk across the street to several decent restaurants, too, or eat there.

The pool used to be fun; indoors under a dome, but it's been a while since I was there.

Correction, BAK. The Delta Hotel (formerly Howard Johnson)is now a Renaissance Hotel. The new Delta Airport West Hotel is at Dixie Road and 401 which used to be a Ramada and/or Sheraton 4 Points. The Delta Airport West is not on the airport "strip" but does have a shuttle service to airport.

I like The Sheraton @ Terminal 3. You can't get any closer & shuttles to the other terminals are frequent. (I think it's caled "Sheraton Gateway"...when you call res tell them you want the one @ the airport.)

Carib_bean, there are 3 new airport hotels you might want to check as they are closer to airport than the Delta Airport West. They are Hampton Inn and Suites, Fairfield Inn and Suites and The Courtyard by Marriott.

Scotia is right about the Delta Airport West:I used to stay there when it was a Ramada, and I used to do business just down the street.

So now I withdraw my suggestion that this would be a good place to stay, not because it is not a fine hotel, but because it is not in a good location.

The original building I suggested, now a Renaissance, is probably still a good bet.

Not sure if its still called the Swiss or not, on the airport grounds. I loved this hotel, i took my daughters for a trip to florida, we could actually see my husband in the hotel room waving goodbye to us from the plane as we taxied downt the runway...
if you like watching the planes, this is a great spot!! and your right there!

oh, that was about 9 years ago approx., in around there, it was the year Jackio O died, thats all i can remember.. the newspapers came on the stand with the news of her death while we were waiting for our flight very very early in the morning...., that i can remember, and being de-iced! which terrified me, but i can't remember the year, haha
