With that kind of time I would want out of the airport! Assuming that you can be outside at 2:30 and are flying internationally at 9 so should be back for 7ish (check with airline) you have 4.5 hours to play with. This is plenty of time for a quick trip downtown either by taxi or public transit. Try not to have too much carry on to lug around. A taxi tour is another option but if it was me I would like to do some walking and get fresh air.

I don't know how interested you are in sports etc...but about a ten minute cab ride away from the airport is Centennial Park which has mini golf; batting cages, a place to stroll and other sort of fun silly stuff.

If you put a bathing suit in your carry on you could head over to one of the hotels and take a swim for a small fee and shower grab a quick bite to eat and be back at the hotel. There is also a quick golf course (executive they call them??) three minutes away from the center of the airport...I can't remember the name of it but I am certain it would be easy to find through yellow pages - it is literally at the airport and they may rent clubs you could do 9 holes and schedule a tee time that is not impossible...

What day are you having this layover?? because I wouldn't risk the city on a weekday with the traffic - but there is Sherway Mall about 20 minutes away from the airport that would likely not be too bad with traffic...It has lovely stores - not a wide selection but a lovely selection and if you are sick of shopping they have great leather chairs for casual seating with phones that accept credit cards...

These are a few of my thoughts off the top of my head...

I had a similar layover about a year ago. Took the Airport Rocket (Bus #192) to Kipling subway station, then take the train to Bay or Bloor-Young. Plenty of shops and restaurants in that area. C$2.25 each way. Much better way to spend a few hours than staying at the airport.

If you are into horse racing and slot machines, Woodbine Racetrack is a short taxi ride away, maybe 10 minutes if that. I believe Woodbine is one of North America's premier tracks and has a huge slots facility.
