You really should spend some time at the CNE, the CN Tower of course and if you like history, go to Fort York (not far from the CNE's Prince's Gate). Another great thing, especially if it's hot and humid, is to take the ferry over to the Island. Centre has a kid's amusement area and several places to buy food. But put together a picnic and stroll the length of it from Hanlon's to Wards. Shopping, you can't beat Eaton Centre and Yorkville. Have fun!

Hi, My top picks would include a walking exploration of Kensington Market/Chinatown; dinner in Little Italy (Kalandar, Marlowe and Li'Li are all great); Queen St. W. is still quite interesting for shopping. The Art Gallery of Ontario is well worth visiting - especially if there is lunch or drinks at John's Italian Cafe (2 blocks north on Baldwin St. between McCaul and Beverley) after. Harbourfront always has something going on and a good contemporary gallery called The Power Plant. The new Distillery District is an interesting new area to explore as well - great outdoor patios. It all really comes down to what you like to do. Pick up a free NOW magazine for club listing etc. nowtoronto.com toronto.com is another good site to have a look at. Enjoy your trip.

Hmm, you didn't state your general preferences, children, etc. So, 5 things on Labour Day weekend in no order:
1. CNE (www.theex.com) with the International Airshow on during Labour Day weekend
2. Metro Zoo (long bus ride or drive)
3. CN Tower
4. Strolling/shopping/eating along Queens St West, then up Spadina to Chinatown and Kensington Market (go on Saturday as many stores etc will be closed on Sun/Mon in Kensington).
5. Habourfront and Toronto Islands
Enjoy!!

We lived near TO several years ago and loved it - esp. just exploring the various ethnic neighborhoods. To this day I get nostalgic for the Zoo which is astonishing and the Big Land Chinese grocery store and actually the CN tower even though I normally shun such touristy sites. Enjoy this wonderful city and the proud diversity of the people.
