I did talk to the hotel, and we could stay there after Sept. 4, but they couldn't guarantee check in before then (and we were to arrive tomorrow). So, we've decided to postpone the trip to the area. We are taking my mom to the Banff/Lake Louise area for her birthday instead (another place she was hoping to go someday), so it has worked out well. The airline tickets worked out really well (it is easier for us to get to given our location) and we found great accomodations at a good price (thanks to www.mountainparktours.com).

Thanks again to everyone for your support and good advice. I got some great ideas for places to stay in the future, when the water situation looks better. Pray for rain in Tofino. They need it

Ah yes...a wonderful choice!
We ADORE the Canadian Rockies & it should be a most special trip for her.

As far as rain...pray for it for *now*, but please, everyone send us good luck wishes for little rain in early October ;-)
as we're contemplating really digging in, splurging & trying to do nature at its finest up there in early October!! (and am concerned the squalls will hit then)

I know that could be neat in Tofino but would really hamper our hopes of going out on the water quite a bit for nature outings. Enjoy your trip katydid! Fit in Emerald Lake if you have the time. And Lake Louise...
and, Moraine Lake...and...
just too much to see!
