Everybody @ Le Germain was amazing! Wonderful people. Now, about the shopping: Everytime we walked past Holt's & Ogilvy's I said "I have to get back there to get some things for myself when we finish getting all of the rez stuff". Unfortunately, that never happened. Was there ever a lot of "stuff" to get for that rez room!!! Rez supplies nothing so we had to buy basics like toilet paper & hangers! And then other things that you wld expect to buy like mattress cover, duvet(+cover), pillows, sheets, shower curtain, tub mats, towels....all of those things. B/c we flew to Montreal, I reasoned that it made more sense to buy everything there instead of loading it all on/off the plane. We also bought laptop, printer, new cell w/ Montreal #. We walked everywhere & cabbed it when we had too much to carry. About the food: Dinners on Peel were "interesting" but a little weird for my taste. A lot of the dishes were served w/ cooked spinach which I find kind of wilted & tastless. For, example @ Pub Alexandre on Peel I ordered Sea Bass. It was about 1 inch wide & 2.5 inches long(small!!
...)& served "on a bed of spinach". That's it!
Looked more like an appetizer than dinner! Similar experience at a place just south of Alexandre(L'Aramato or someting like that...) But, for lunch we found a great little outdoor place on the East side of McGill College just south of Maisoneuve(sp?)(Le Fiore). They had "real food" if you know what I mean!We went there twice for a late lunch after shopping. Also had a very nice dinner @ Le Germain on Sunday night. So....do you have some recommendations for great Cafes/Bistros w/in walking distance of Le Germain?

L'Aromate and Alexandre are the 2 places I would have told you to avoid; too bad I could not tell you in advance........ Alexandre is ok for drinks but not to eat.....
L'Orchidée de Chine is great for szchechuan; Entrecôte St. Jean for steak/frites; both are north of de Maisonneuve.
Glad you loved the Germain, it's a gem, imo.....

No, both are on Peel ; north of de Maisonneuve.
My instructions were sketchy, lol..........
sanwiches, pastries and coffee: le Pain Doré, across from l'Aromate, on Peel, close to ste Catherine st.
so south of de Maisonneuve. Excellent bakery for take out; people line up for the bread.
