Suggestions for Mother's Day Brunch or Lunch
Every restaurant will probably be mobbed, but do you all have any suggestions of where to go? It'll just be 3 ladies, no kids. Should we go the tourist route and have tea at the Empress?
Thanks!

Hello Tiramisu,
Your mention of the Empress suggests you're asking about Vancouver.
Afernoon tea at the Empress is expensive (I would go so far as to say outrageous) and, according to the Fodorites who live at the coast or have spent considerable time in Victoria, there are other places that are much better value for money than the Empress is.
I recall this question being asked and many responses being provided last summer. If you do a word search for AFTERNOON TEA VICTORIA here at Fodor's, I'm sure you'll find lots of information.

The Empress, of course, is a big hotel that is NOT in Vancouver. Maybe there's another Empress somewhere, but the real Empress is in Victoria.
Is that the city under sdiscussion, and if so, just make reservations tonight.

Tea at the Empress was, in my experience, overpriced and the "food" was disappointing (and the ambience = unexpectedly loud & noisy!!).
White Heather Tearoom was much much better - it's cute and cozy but doesn't have many tables so I'm not sure how easy it will be to get one on Mother's Day.

Thank you for all your replies. I forgot to say this would be in Victoria, BC. Apparently the Empress has raised her rates for Mother's Day up to something like $60 p.p. While I would've considered going there despite the high price, now it is out of the question. I cannot see myself paying even more for something that is already considered over-priced. Any other suggestions would be welcomed. Not necessarily only for tea, but a lunch or brunch would be great. Thank you!
