Stratford

Just wondering if anyone has seen any plays this year and has recommendations.

I have seen seven thus far...

All were good, but there were three I thought were exceptional-

Hamlet, Music Man and the Trojan Women.
Definate "must sees."

(The others I have seen are Romeo & Juliet, Taming of the Shrew, Cabaret and Love's Labours Lost)

Lots still to open to look forward to ... three of which open this weekend- Alls Well That Ends Well, Krapp's Last Tape & Hughie (the double bill starring Brian Dennehy) and Fuente Ovejuna.

My son, and his grade eight classmates, saw Romeo and Juliet.

He liked the machine guns, but word is that the kids were saying to themselves "Die, die already" as some scenes dragged on.

goldilox~7 already!! I too am looking forward to the double bill. I'm also planning on seeing Caesar and Cleopatra with Christopher Plummer in September.

So far have only seen Music Man but it was tremendous!

Richard O of the Toronto Star gave the double bill with Brian Dehenney 4 stars and rave reviews.

I too will be seeing a bunch of shows in July and August (Moby Dick, Fuente Ovejuna and the one with Simon Callow) and then Cabaret in September while on our family 3-day Stratford weekend getaway.

" the double bill with Brian Dehenney 4 stars and rave reviews."

Unfortunately it's completely sold out according to the online site......relatively small theatre compared to the Festival or Avon.

I always encourage people to call the box office even when a show appears sold out online. You never know when seats open up because someone has exchanged their tickets etc...

Same goes if you are unhappy with your seats... you can check back in with the box office to see if anything better has come available.

Enjoy! To see Dennehy in Hughie is treat enough, but adding Krapps Last Tape shows his incredible skill... and since the shows touch on the same theme, it makes for an extraordinary night at the theatre.
