Stayed at a Montreal "boutique" hotel?
The Montreal boutique hotels have received wonderful (rare!) reviews on Rants and Raves; my husband and I are looking for a quick getaway weekend and would love to hear from those of you who have stayed at Hotel Nelligan or the Gault or any upscale, romantic lodging you would like to recommend.
Merci in advance,
Mary

You haven't mentioned when you plan to visit.
The ROOMS at boutique hotels could not be more comfortable and charming (if ridiculously pricey) during the very nice weather.
Otherwise, I cannot imagine booking a place without two or more restaurants, cocktail lounges, excellent ROOM SERVICE, connected to or at least convenient to the underground.

DH and I stayed at the Nelligan last September. It was pricy ($235 CAD) but we really enjoyed it. We had a gorgeous room with huge fluffy bed and beautiful amenities. The location in Old Montreal is really romantic and charming.
The interior of the hotel is gorgeous with a soaring atrium and exposed brick. The service was excellent.
The only "negative"was that I expected the continental brekkie to be a bit more "posh". I would definitely stay there again.

Our favorite hotels are Hotel Vogue, La Montagne, and Sofitel.
Sometime there are terrific deals on their websites or by phoning.
Otherwise, you can often save lots with Hotwire and Priceline.
Much depends upon your dates and whether they coincide with events such as the Jazz Festival.
Weather in July could be quite mild or positively hot/humid/unbearable - in which case you'd definitely want to be staying in a "full service" hotel, not too far from the "underground".
And, while there are many luxe/charming "boutique" hotels in Vieux Montreal, be advised that they are quite the hike from the metro, though taxis are plentiful and quite reasonable.

Marymarra,
I would definately recommend the Vogue...I live in Montreal and I spend a great deal of time there (for the food and the 5 à 7's). And given the weather this time of year, you'll want to be closer to the downtown core!!
