We are thinking of going to Quebec City and would like to know of any sights or excursions of interest. Another couple is going with us and they want to know if there are any casinoes in that area. I don't think so, right?

You can make a nice day trip up to the casino at/next to Fairmont Le Manoir Richelieu, about 3-4 hours north of Quebec City. This is a beautiful CP(now Fairmont) hotel in a gorgeous setting. The casino itself is very elegant, not glitzy and cheesy like most others www.casino-de-charlevoix.com The surrounding area of Charlevoix has lots to see and do, including whalewatching if you are there at the right time. On the drive up you should stop at Montmorency Falls for lunch www.chutemontmorency.qc.ca/. It's right off the highway. Lots of other recommendations if you'd like them. Feel free to email.

Molly,<BR>Can you tell me the driving distance between Quebec and Montreal? To do both cities justice, what is the ideal amount of time to allot, with the understanding that a week would probably be the maximum amount of time? What are the "must sees" in your opinion?

Hi Alex<BR>Be sure to get out of the old city to visit upper St. Jean st (mingle with locals, pick up treats at JA Moisan or the European Deli and stop at Tutti Gelato for Ice cream), Cartier street (where locals shop and stop for a coffee or a drink - try the Krieghoff cafe), stroll through the streets around cartier to see local architecture and small parks, visit The Bois du Coulonges park - not far from the old city along Grande Allee (which turns into Chemin St. Louis),the ile d'orleans (rent a car for the afternoon and visit for a must see tour, Baie St. Paul (about two hours north of Quebec - lots of art galleries, friendly folks, and not far from the casino)- if you have kids the Village de Vacances Valcartier is a great water slide area - if you golf, try Stoneham golf course for an inexpensive round - be sure to visit the plains in the evening for a picnic and to see live entertainment at the bandstand ( up grande allee outside of the old city)<BR>Have a great trip!<BR>
