One Day in Toronto with 3 Teenage Girls

What are the must-sees when visiting Toronto for a day with 3 teenage girls. This will be our first visit. Do I need to rent a car? Will be coming in from Toronto Airport.

If you are flying in to the airport, there is really nothing anywhere near there to do.
You will need to rent a car, or take a taxi to the downtown area.
I would suggest the Eaton Centre (there's good shopping, plus it is in the heart of the downtown). There's Gap stores, Old Navy, etc.
Ask for directions on how to get to Yorkville. This is a quaint little area of Toronto (not too far from the Eaton Centre). You could take the subway. There is little outside cafe's, art galleries, expensive shops that are fun to browse in. You may even run into some movie crews, lots of movies are now filmed in Toronto. We once ran into Lily Tomlin, Steve Martin and Carl Reiner in that area.
The Much Music studio is somewhere in the downtown area. Just ask.
Lots of great theatre too, but if you only have the day, you may not want to be sitting in a theatre.
Also hit Queen Street E (corner of Queen and Spadina and head east). Lots of funky shops, some good restuarants. They will love this area.

Probably best to get a taxi downtown - fixed price, should be around $35-40 one way. Then hop on the subway/streetcars or grab a cab when downtown.

My (teenaged) daughter suggested the Bata Shoe Museum as a destination, if you have time. Its located near enough to Yorkville to make its a pleasant walk along the fringe of the University of Toronto campus and is on the corner of Bloor and St. George.

Ariel means Queen Street west. East is the Beaches area, which we love, but I think teenagers would like West better. My niece wanted to see the location for Much Music and then shop along Queen Street. She also liked the Eaton Centre.

Queen St West - lots of interesting shops and restaurants and if any of the girls is interested in Art - the Art Gallery of Ontario is just a short walk north. Dont even consider driving in Downtown TO - parking is difficult and transit is good - take the girls for a streetcar ride along Queen St.

I am not sure where you are coming from but if you don't want to be in the city Canada's Wonderland is a great place to spend the day - my kids love it. You would need a car to get there from the airport - it is about 30min drive north.

There is a Toronto Airport Express that is about $10-$15 per person and runs into downtown every half hour. It might be worth checking out at the airport. Once you are downtown everything is close so walking/taking the subway is fine. No car necessary!
