Niagara Falls Itinerary

I will have a car from 4.30pm on Monday 24 (Victoria Day) to 4.30pm on Wednesday 26 May, picking up and dropping off at these times at Union Station.

I assume we will get to Niagara Falls in about 1.5 hours (staying at the Renaissance Fallsview) and then probably won't do much that evening, maybe grab some dinner and head over to the casino. I have thought about the following things for the other days:

Tuesday: Maid of the Mist, Journey Behind the Falls, Skylon Tower (afternon or evening?). I don't expect we will use the car this day.

Wednesday: Leave the hotel, go to Whirlpool Aero Car, lunch in NOTL and possibly stop at one of the vineyards (any ideas if we have time for just one - Inniskillin?) on the way back to Toronto for 4.30pm.

I know I have missed a few things out (Butterfly Conservatory, White Water Walk, Old Scow, going to the US side) but I don't really know how long the above itinerary will take.

Any comments on the above ideas will be gratefully received and advice on whether we should buy some sort of combination ticket which covers a number of the attractions.

regarding Skylon Tower: If it's a clear day I'd suggest going in the day, since it is quite impressive just walking along the falls at night when they are lit up. Of course it must also be pretty by night from the towers, but you won't get the sound and fury. You'll have gotten that by day on the Maid of the Mist!

Inniskillen is very nice - but you may also want to look into Vineland Estates which is en route from N.F to Toronto - stop for lunch on the patio overlooking the vineyard and the Lake...great wines and great food.

Dave - the casino also has a top level restaurant called "21". That may be your best bet within 10 miles of the hotel. If you do want to stop at a winery restaurant, also consider "On the Twenty" at Cave Springs, Peller Estates, Strewn, and Hildebrand... all are top notch restaurants in the wine country...

Hi Dave - if you are picking up the car at Union Station in Toronto and driving through rush hour, it will probably take you just over 2 hours for the drive if there are no accidents. Book some time to see the falls at night - pretty cool. For Tuesday - Maid of the Mist is the best tour to take in town - Journey Behind the Falls could be missed - just some tunnels with the falls coming down in front of you - Skylon tower is fun and so is the casino. Whirlpool Aero car is pretty bland but stop anyway and have a look - very pretty. NOTL is wonderful- The Buttery is a great restaurant but very busy - stop at a few wineries (I love Reif and MaryNissan) as many give out free samples but at Inniskillin you have to pay and it is very large. Have fun.
