Montreal - Your favorite Italian restaurant?

Any suggestions on a great Italian restaurant in Montreal? Price is not a concern, looking for authentic Italian, good service and nice atmosphere.

I ate at Il Cortile a while ago with a local Montrealer and found it to have excellent authentic food. It also has a beautiful courtyard for outside dining that really makes you feel as if you are in Europe.

Thanks to both. I was actually considering Il Cortile. It's fairly close to my hotel and the courtyard sounds nice. I'll make a reservation on Friday.

I went last night again to Cafe Presto, a cozy, small Italian restaurant that's been there for years. I really love this place; the owners serve you referring to you as Signore, etc... very charming, simple in decor and great for those on a budget who are craving Italian. They have a fixed menu that the server will tell you that you pick from. You pay maybe CAN$10 per person. (I know you said price is not a concern, but maybe others are looking for something not too expensive.)

DW, which area is Presto in, sounds great !

As a Montrealer, I am always astounded at how few restaurants I have tried, yet we eat out a lot but tend to go to the same ones over and over.

Hey Mitch,

Cafe Presto is on Stanley just below Sainte Catherine (metro: Peel). It's nice to have somewhere this charming and reasonably priced amidst all the soulless chains of this part of downtown (not that there aren't other gems downtown too).
