Montreal - Trendy Japanese Restaurant

Greetings!
I'm looking for a good Japanese restaurant in Montreal. I don't expect to find in Montreal a place on the level of Nobu, but is there anything close? Thanks in advance.

You start with a condescending statement about how Montreal could not possibly have a place as good as what you have in Nobu in New York City, and then expect us Montrealers to tell you our secrets? LOL.

We're pretty good here in restaurant departments and you might not have a place that replicates Nobu, but does things its own way. I've liked Kaizen, also Maiko on Bernard, as well as Katsura downtown (although it's been years since the latter).

Incidentally, the best sushi I've ever had has been in Vancouver. I think that due to the freshness (resulting from the proximity) of the fish and the large Japanese-Canadian population there, the quality (and portion for a reasonable price to boot!) was a step up from anything I've had in either Montreal or New York....

Daniel, can't you tell by the way Eugene writes that he is lacking in the grey matter department.

When Robert DiNiro was in Montreal a number of years ago he was frequently seen dining at Kaizen Treehouse Sushi Bar, where i over heard him compliment both the owner and the chef,"This is even finer than my own restaurants, probably the best Sushi Bar I have ever dined in"
and we know he is one of the owners of "Nobu". Truth is stranger than fiction.

LOL..you won't find many places in much of the US on the "level of Nobu".. But that cannot be the reason to be going to Montreal is it??
Be sure to pack an open mind when you leave NY, Eugene, you might be pleasantly surprised at the choices of very good restaurants in Montreal.

Friends of ours who have homes in Westmount ( her birthplace) and NYC (his birthplace) .. suggest Kaizen ( when I read them this question )
