Montreal Marriott Hotels

Has anyone stayed at either the Spring Hill Suites or The Residence Inn? I would like some feedback about these two hotels.

Dear Bookert,
I live in Montreal & am quite happy with my accommodations(haha) but The Marriott Springhill Suites Old Montreal looks beautiful to me(last time I passed by)and is fairly new. It is located in Old Montreal "if" that is where you want to stay. Here is the tollFree number-1-866-875-4333;ask for their website & have a look. I don't know much about the Marriott Residence Inn(I would venture that it does not compare to the Springhill)but here is their website so look: www.residenceinn.com/yulri and toll-free number is 1-888-999-9494 and the Residence has an indoor pool and I think kitchenettes. Where do you want to be in montreal--downtown or Old Montreal?

I saw on the Web that the Spring Hill Suites has a better location, and is easier accesible to the Metro.

Just returned from staying at The Residence Inn. Service has gone down since last year. Our room-not ready despite arriving late (also sofa/bed torn-very first thing I saw). No upgrade given when asked even though hotel obviously wasn't fully booked. Did switch to different room, however. Still not what we asked for. Have stayed here b/4 & always have to wait for elevators. No change this year. Three small elevators only & cleaning staff uses them during the morning hours to the point where you really have to be patient after breakfast. This year desk personnel (assistant desk mgr., particularly) were not very helpful upon arrival. Location is terrific in terms of being near McGill University, bookstores, restaurants, museums. Breakfast had some problems-less choice this year in beverages (coffee kept running out) plus evening snack in the mezzanine was paltry. One night was supposedly chef salad-just that, no rolls, etc..Very little cheese or meat in the salad. If you're going to offer it, at least do it right! Otherwise, everyone else was courteous, rooms were relatively clean, and the kitchenette is great to have if you travel with a family. Indoor pool but no jacuzzi. Very small exercise room-only five machines, or was it four? No one likes to give any up, either. We loved Montreal though! Always a great experience. Am looking for a new hotel that offers breakfast & snack for a reasonable price.

go to www.bbmontreal.com
There is always the tiny Auberge Les Passants du Sans Souci in the heart of old montreal, the Best Western right in the heart of downtown, the Cantlie Suites, or Auberge de la Fontaine in the trendy Plateau Mont-Royal district.
go to www.montrealcam.com and order your free comprehensive booklet for info on montreal & quebec at 1-877-266-5687 www.bonjourquebec.com
go to www.hotelcantlie.com this one has a roof-top pool & exercise room with a top location and a fantastic location in downtown montreal-should be reasonable call 1-800-567-1110;also the Best Western has a great location & should be reasonable
There is also the delta hotel which is reasonable-1-800-268-1133 www.deltahotels.com(with pool)

Thanks Pattie for the info. Will try probably Best Western next. Loved Residence Inn on previous visits but too many hassles this yr. Had a friend who stayed at Delta & had negative experience. But every stay is different for everyone so, may try that sometime, too. Thanks again!

Hi Chemna,

Its called Best Western Ville Marie and it is located on Sherbrooke St. West-which is in my opinion one of the best locations downtown
Here is their webiste:www.hotelvillemarie.com (then Best western comes up),phone number is 514-288-4141; or 1-800-361-7791
or if you go on bestwesterninternational you will see this one. The cantlie which I mentioned above is also well located.
