I am planning a last minute trip with my teenage daugther to Montreal, arriving Sunday to Saturday this week. We would like to stay at a very nice hotel, with access to underground and great location. Any suggestions for hotel? what weather can we expect? thanks

[a boutique hotel with excellent personal service, a wonderful staff that takes great care of the guests,lovely rooms with Frette linens, Aveda bath products and very good breakfast buffet included in the price of your room]They have a web site.<BR>It is downtown, access to underground is within a couple of blocks, also access to museums, shopping, restaurants, underground shopping mall, cinema is all within a few blocks.<BR>Read all the posts here about Montreal, you will get a LOT of tips!<BR>Have fun!! If you want a hotel with direct access to the underground shopping, the Queen Elizabeth (now part of the Fairmount chain) is the best bet. It's a &quot;Grande Dame&quot; type of hotel -- older, with lots of history and character. The QE is connected to Place Ville-Marie, which is in turn adjacent to the other underground shops.<BR><BR>If you're looking for hotels at or adjacent to metro stations, the Hilton Bonaventure and Marriott (formerly Chateau Champlain) are both convenient to the Bonaventure metro station.<BR><BR>Some nicer hotels that aren't at metor or underground shoping areas are the Loew's and Ritz-Carlton, both on Sherbrooke St. These are top-tier hotels (for Mtl), and they're near galleries and the fine arts museum.<BR><BR>The weather this time of year is totally unpredictable: anything from a beautiful spring day with temps in the 50s or 60s to a howling snowstorm is possible. Bring layers of clothes, and you'll be ok.

I second the recommendation for the Queen E, bcs of its easy access to shopping in Place Ville Marie, underground network, very good food court in Central Station. My teenage daughters feel the shopping alone is worth a trip to Montreal. For great deals and stylish youthful clothing, we go to Simon's, a re-done dept. store on Ste. Catherine st. bet. Mansfield/Metcalfe. This is a Quebec-based store, so you will not see these great clothes/prices elsewhere. Also check out the basement level of Les cours Mont-Royal, where cool local teens shop, and walk along Ste. Catherine past de la Montagne to Buffalo and Parasucco, which are the mother-lodes of these dynamic Montreal-based jeans manufacturers. You need not worry if the weather turns out to be colder/warmer than expected, because you'll have lots of new clothes. Montreal is also renowned for fantastic shoes. Enjoy!

I am afraid that I found the Ritz to be quite shabby and tired when we were there not too long ago, fortunately, we were able to move to the Omni that time. The Omni (which was the Four Seasons, then the Westin) is a very nice, large hotel. I would ask for a room on Sherbrook with a view of Mt Royal. They have a great conceirge who takes very good care of many guests with ease.<BR>We stay in smaller boutique hotels, but if you want a &quot;nice&quot; big hotel, you will have fun picking one out, there are a few to choose from.
