Looking for romance!

We're looking for a romantic getaway in B.C for our 25th wedding anniversary? Ideas? We've been to Vancouver for our last two romantic escapes and would like a change.

We haven't been to the sunshine coast yet and wonder if there are lovely places to stay there.

Thanks for your help!

Go to Tofino. I know I probably sound like a broken record because I recommend it so often ;-), but it's just a fantastic place. Lots of really good quality, romantic accommodations, too.

What place do you recommend in Tofino?

Well, my favorite is Middle Beach Lodge (for romance, assuming your budget can handle it, go for a cabin with a private hot tub on your deck)--I think it has the perfect combination of elegance and a relaxed atmosphere that epitomizes Tofino to me. But if you prefer something more upscale, then either the Wickanninish or Long Beach Lodge would fit the bill. If I'm trying to advise friends which they should choose, I ask them (only somewhat tongue in cheek) if they want someone to carry their bags or if they are ok with staying at a nice place but carrying their own luggage. If it's the first, then choose the Wick; if the latter, choose Middle Beach--Long Beach is somewhere in between.

Or for a real getaway, if you'd be up for luxury safari-style camping, look into Clayoquot Wilderness Resort (they have both the camp and a floating lodge).

Just adding this for the next person who does a search, as I did, and finds this - Middle Beach Lodge is at http://www.middlebeach.com/.

The Sunshine Coast is charming but quite rustic - B&B's instead of lodges/inns. I'd second Tofino
and Middlebeach; some really lovely
restaurants for a celebratory dinner
and wonderful beaches to wander....
