Lodging recommendation in The Okanagan Valley
My husband, myself and another couple will be spending an overnight in the Okanagan Valley wine country. We have never been to this area and would appreciate suggestions for lodging. (something fairly nice). Thanks!

I liked the Sandy Beach Resort on the lake in Naramata. It's a little out of the way but on a road with several wineries. Has B&B rooms and cabins. It would nicer to stay for a couple of nights though - in fact, I'm not sure if you can even stay for just one.

In Penticton there is a Ramada Inn which we stayed at once for an overnight. We were SHOCKED, it was very nice! I booked it via Expedia, just wanting something decent for the night. We drove from Seattle and arrived in the mid afternoon on a hot day. We spent the afternoon at the pool. They have a restaurant/bar next to the pool, so you don't even have to move. There is also a fitness yurt right there. Our room was spacious, very clean, and the decor/bedding was nice and new. It looked like most people staying there were using it as a stopover as well (lots of bike rack and such). There was a complimentary breakfast as well, which was fine although nothing spectacular. I will say that when we drove up to the hotel we were a bit leery, but once we entered the lobby and saw that most rooms and the pool were behind the first building, we were at ease. What you see from the front does not do justice to the rest of the property. It is also adjacent to a golf course.

We are also taking our first trip to the Valley. I have made reservations at the Majestic Hills B&B near Naramata. I think they may have a 3 night limit. Check their website and then call. Sometimes they make exceptions. It looks lovely on the website and the owner- the wife- who I spoke to was very helpful and sent me lots of info about the area. Why not stay longer- there are many wineries and it looks like a beautiful spot?

Many thanks to all of you. I booked a night at The Naramata Heritage Inn. From the web site it looks beautiful.(www.naramatainn.com).
