Lodging in Kentville or Wolfeville?

My husband and I are returning to Nova Scotia after almost 15 years for a getaway. We were there for our 35th anniversary, loved our time there, and promised to return. So .... we are going back!
We are booked on the CAT on 9/15 and will have a late lunch in Digby and continue on to Wolfeville for an overnight stop.
We stayed in Wolfeville the last time, and would be agreeable to staying there again. Any suggestions for lodgings, and also dining? I have found this site a wonderful source of help in our travels, with lots of enthusiastic people who share a love of travel. Last spring on our trip to France we were overwhelmed by the advice and information we received!

Thanks for any input.

Hi,

We were in Nova Scotia last September and we stayed one night in Wolfville.

We stayed at Victoria's http://www.victoriashistoricinn.com/
and we loved it.

The house was gorgeous and the rooms were very nicely decorated. Breakfast was great too.

We walked downtown (10 min walk) and there were a few restaurants to choose from. I can't remember the restaurant we choose, but it was recommended by the Inn. They have a portfolio of menus in their sitting room for you to peruse.

They are members of selectregistry.com also.

We also took the CAT and went to Digby. Digby had our greatest shopping finds!

We actually drove counterclockwise around the entire province so I have lots of great lodging and restaurant ideas.

If you have any other questions, please feel free to email me at [email protected]

Thanks for the response. We will certainly investigate your sugestions. Our plan is to drive clockwise (last time did it counterclockwise)
Cape Breton is one place where we didn't spend enough time on our first trip, so we will be eger to go back. Any special tips?

We stayed in a wonderful place one night in Cheticamp and I could've stayed there for a week. http://www.baywindsuites.com/

It was so relaxing sitting on the small boardwalk looking at at the water. We stayed in the Lighthouse Suite.

We were going to eat upstairs at the restaurant, but we were tired of restaurant food, so we got a pizza that was good. Cheticamp is VERY small but quiet and relaxing.

We hiked the Middlehead Trail near Ingonish and it was gorgeous. We stayed at http://lanternhillandhollow.com/ for a night after we hiked there. That place was also very quiet and relaxing. We stayed in the Moonbeamer Suite.

If you go through Mahone Bay, which I HIGHLY recommend, stay at http://www.bbcanada.com/1324.html
The hosts were wonderful and made the best salmon omelette. The town is quaint and has a few little shops and an excellent restaurant, called Mimi's Ocean Grill.

I loved Nova Scotia and can not wait to return. We are going to Quebec City and Ayer's Cliff, Quebec for our honeymoon this Sept and I can only hope for a trip as great as Nova Scotia.

Enjoy it!

Wolfville is my favourite town in the Valley. Yes, the Victoria Inn is a lovely old Inn and nearby is The Tattingstone Inn and on the other side of town is The Blomidon Inn both with excellent dining rooms. The Blomidon Inn looked a little shabby the last time I was there. About 3 miles outside of Wolfville is The Old Orchard Inn which is a more modern motor inn type of establishment also with a very good restaurant but with a swimming pool and spa. However, it is not within walking distance of anything. In addition there are a few new B and B's in town which I am not familiar with. There are several good restaurants in Wolfville. The newest is The Tempest where I have not eaten yet but I understand the menu is very unique. Another spot is Acton's on Main Street. If you like fresh lobster, take a trip to Hall's Harbour on the Bay of Fundy. It is between Kentville and Wolfville and I am sure the hotel you choose will give you directions.

Honeymoon in Quebec....what a great choice! We have loved Quebec and still think of it as one of the great places to which we have traveled, again and again and again.

We camped there when the children were young, and it was spectacular with lots for them to see and do. Many times we have returned. Its charm increases with every visit. Since we live in New England it is not too far away. Our son and his wife spent their honeymoon at the Chateau, and have returned for an anniversary celebration. Best wishes for a wonderful experience, and Bon Appetit!

I second the idea for a drive to Hall's Harbour for fresh lobster and a very interesting view of the tide in action.

A few years ago we stayed at the Gingerbread Inn in Wolfville - you can't miss it {if it' the same} because it looks like a gingerbread house! We liked it very much, but there are other inns in town that look terrific and posters rave about.

I also remember a neat little pub in downtown Kentville - Paddy's perhaps? that had good food and ale. Not exactly fine dining, but good for an informal meal.

The playhouse in Wolfville is topnotch.

Be sure and inquire about the chimney swifts - an unusual sight!

Yes, Paddy's is the Pub with good fare. Unfortunately the live theatre closed due to lack of funding. Too bad, it was top quality.

Scotia, I'm so sorry to hear that Wolfville's wonderful theatre has closed! My husband and I were so looking forward to returning there some day. Things can sure change in a few years - at least Paddy's still exists!

We just returned home from our Nova Scotia honeymoon last weekend! Wolfville was our last stop--darling little town. I second (or is it third now?) the Victoria's Historic Inn rec. We were in the Executive Hideaway Suite and it was lovely! The place is beautiful, the staff helpful and friendly, the breakfast nice...everything was great!

We also ate at Paddy's--it is alive and well! We enjoyed the food at The Tempest, but I found the service sorely lacking. I have heard good things about Le Caveau also!

Have a wonderful time!
