Latin quarter hotels

Can anyone recommend a good inexpensive hotel in the latin quarter? Any feedback on the Hotel La Residence du Voyageur on rue Sherbrooke? Thanks in advance.

We stayed at the Voyageur a few times when we first started visiting Montreal in the 90's. It's a very basic, reasonably comfortable hotel in a good location. I would actually consider it more in the Plateau than the Latin Quarter, but that's splitting hairs. I would opt for staying up a little bit closer to the Plateau than the Latin Quarter, which can be a little seedy, especially near St. Catherine. Check out the Argoat, and Manior Sherbrooke, which are also close to the Residence. There are also many nice b&b's in this general area.

Heard lots of great comments for this bed and breakfast. Right in the middle of the Plateau : http://www.annemasoeuranne.com/

Thanks, the Argoat, hotel St-Denis, and Anne ma soeur Anne are all what I'm looking for. I am awaiting reservation confirmation for Chateau de L'Argoat. If they are booked then I will try the others.

Just FYI - Hotel St. Denis is not in the best area, it's right near St. Catherine. This is the heart of the Latin Quarter, a little seedy. Far better (IMHO) up closer to Sherbrooke. Your other choices look fine.
