Keltic Lodge Rates ??
I can't seem to find any rates for the Keltic Lodge. Can someone advise me what kind of accomodations are the best. We will be going in late September for 2 nights. I like clean accomodations, not too rustic. I'm not too big on cabins, so would I be better off in the loge itself. Should I stay in the newer building? There are so many mixed reviews about this place I'm not sure I really want to stay here. Any help at all would be appreciated!

Hello,Patti5! KL is a great place to stay...if you stay in the "right part"!! Ask for a newly renovated room in "The Main Lodge". Not "The Inn" which is not a very nice place IMHO. It is the "newer" building..."new" relative to "The Main Lodge". It is not really an "Inn" just a hotel. The Main Dining Room is located in The Main Lodge. The Inn is located down the hill from the Main Lodge & across from the Coffee Shop( a very casual restaurant). Keltic Lodge is located on a peninsula that juts out into the Atlantic Ocean. The location is truly spectacular! I have stayed there many times over the years & I still get excited about the view! While it is always spectacular, it is always somewhat different depending on the weather & the time of year. Late Sept is a perfect time to be there. Still warm enough to walk on the beach but not too busy.
Do you have the NS Doers' & Dreamers' vacation planning guide? I can't understand your problem w/ getting rates....did you call Keltic Lodge Reservations? Or are you doing this on-line? The rates @ Keltic include breakfast & dinner.
Stay there...you'll love it! Any more questions, just post back & I will try to help you!

Hello wow,
Thanks for your help. I haved tried calling but I am put on hold and cannot get through. I finally got through yesterday and was told their computer system was down. I will keep trying. Several people have said the walls are very thin and it is very hot on the second floor where I would be staying, so I was concerned about that. Thanks for helping!

Patti, you will not have to worry about excessive heat in late Sept on Cape Breton Island!! I always stay in the Main Lodge & have never had a problem w/ the room being too hot or w/ the walls being "thin"! I stayed in The Inn once when the Main Lodge was fully booked. I did not have a problem w/ "thin walls" but it would not surprise me. Just stay away from the Inn & you will be fine. Because Keltic Lodge books up very quickly & very early ( even for September!!) why don't you consider making the reservtaion & then you can decide as the time draws near? You can always cancel w/o penalty provided you give the required cancellation notice. This will give you time to gather more info & see if this is the place for you. What other places are you considering?

Hello wow,
Thanks for your help again. The only other place I was considering was the Duffus House Inn in Baddeck. I realize this is a bit farther to the park but we have stayed here before and did many day trips.
The setting of the Keltic Lodge seems so perfect, so I think I might try and book there. Do you know if there are hiking trails on the grounds? Also how is the food in the restaurant?
I finally was able to talk to someone and get a price. Would you recommend getting a room with a view or is it not worth the extra dollars.

Definitely worth the extra $$$ for the view @ KL. That is why you are going there. Remember you will be on a peninsula so you have water on both sides! The food is excellent. The dining room capitalizes on the "both sides water view". There is not a bad table in the dining room but request to be seated "by the windows" to maximize that view. For some reason, I prefer the left (as you enter the dining room) for breakfast & the right for dinner. And,re:Hiking Trails: Go out the front door of KL Main Lodge, walk left. This takes you to Middlehead Hiking Trail. Bring your camera & a picnic lunch which KL will pack for you.
