July activities in Toronto

My son and I are planning a 3-4 day trip to see The Producers the third week of July. I've read about a Jazz Festival around that time period. What is it like? My son plays bass guitar and loves jazz. Are there any other interesting things going on then? I am thinking of doing a boat trip of some kind on the harbor and ,of course, other touristy things downtown [CN tower,Underground, etc.]

Toronto is packed full of things to do all summer, so you won't be bored. How old is the son? 19 or older means access is possbile to bars with interestingmusic, but there are otudoor concerts and performances; it is only a question of which ones are those particular days.

There's always entertainment outdoors, for free, at Harbourfront, but it might be Zulu dancers, or Canadian Opera company singers, or countrified musicians playing zithers and saws.

Harbout cruises can include lunch or dinner, or just a boat ride; there are lots of boats, from sail to power to a fake sternwheeler, to pick from.

The Beaches Jazz Festival, mentioned above, is an easy streetcar ride from downtown, and much of it is free to hear.

....and the Beach neighborhood is a great one to explore. Great shops and dining.

Thanks everyone. The Beaches Festival sounds like it might be just the thing for us since my son is only 18.
