Hotels with a view in Victoria
My husband and I will be staying in Victoria for the first time. We are planning on three nights in September. I am having trouble deciding between the Delta, the Coast Harbourside, and maybe even the Laurel. We would enjoy a room with a really good view of the harbor and the cost differences are not a factor. So far I am leaning toward the Delta but would appreciate any pros and cons regarding all three that might help me finally decide.
If we did choose to compromise on the view, I have come across some very inviting B&Bs in the Rockland area. Would that be too inconvenient a location for seeing the sites? Are there any that are closer and have view rooms?
Any help would be much appreciated.

I've stayed twice at the Dashwood Manor, it's right on Dallas road across from the water.

The Coast is ok but is further out and has an ugly building on one side of it.
Ocean Pointe is newer than Laurel Point, but it is a nicer walk to town and the museum along the waterside pathway from Laurel Point. Ocean Pointe is across a bridge, although for a fee you can take a harbour ferry over to the lower causeway. As far as the walk goes, I think of green lawns from Laurel Point and cement from Ocean Pointe. I like the restaurant at Ocean Pointe better though. I'm not sure which one would have the better views.
Another one that you might consider between the two at the base of the harbour is the Victoria Regent.
Rockland is lovely and a great walking area but if you like a view of the water, harbour activity and being able to walk to restaurants, it might not be best for you. It would be better to have a car if staying there.

I just returned from a trip to Victoria & Malahat yesterday, and I would like to recommend the new Marriott, which has only been open a month. It is about a block from the Empress, and has a wonderful view of the harbour if you stay on the upper floors. I booked my room on-line, and was miraculously upgraded to the concierge level upon arrival- - a corner room with floor-to-ceiling windows on the top floor! Excellent service and the restaurant looked lovely, though I did not eat there.
