Hotels in Quebec City.

We are going to be in Quebec City in October for a figure skating competition at Colisee Pepsi. Does anyone know if there are any nearby hotels and if not, how far the arena is from the Hilton downtown. Would a car be necessary? Many thanks.

If you can afford it, try the Chateau Frontenac; many packages also include a fabulous buffet breakfast. I've also stayed at Manoir Victoria and Auberge du Tresor.

Thanks Linda. Do you know how far out the arena is? On a map it looks a fair distance from any of the hotels. I assume I will need to bring my car but would like to avoid it if possible.

You can bring a car, or if you don't want to pay for parking, you can use the bus. Public transportation in the city isn't too bad. I don't know exactly where that arena is, but I'm sure you could get a bus there from the city. Consider buying a bus pass if you are going to use it a lot.
-Julia

I noted a message below from "Linda" -- wonder if Linda would please comment (or contact me directly via AOL) on the Manoir Victoria in Quebec. Would you stay there again? We hold a reservation there for six nights, but are sufficiently distant in time to re-think it if we find a more favorable facility (they all sound teriffic, of course, which just adds to the confusion
!)

Thanks for any feedback you can give.
The Colise is not very far from the city center, I'd say 5-7km. Driving to the Colise from a city center hotel is easy for a local, but can be tricky for tourists as it is situated in the suburbs! You should manage with a good map, but for peace of mind, I recommend a cab.

We were in Quebec City in June. We stayed at Hotel Acadia. Nice prices. Very Comfortable. Will not bankrupt one like the Chateau Frontenac.
Website: http://www.hotelacadia.com
Parking is limited in Old Town, but Hotel Acadia does have private parking. Cabs are available to arena.
